MailChimp Campaigns

The MailChimp Campaigns integration connects Mailchimp to Mokapen to sync already sent email campaigns, their related KPIs (sent, opens, clicks) and recipient actions (who opened the email, who clicked a link). Data lands in Marketing → Campaigns, in reports and — key point — on the contact record, where you see whether that person opened or clicked a campaign.

It is an inbound integration: data flows from Mailchimp to Mokapen. Mokapen does not create or modify campaigns on Mailchimp.

It is separate from MailChimp (audience/contact sync): that one aligns the master contact data; this one brings campaigns, KPIs and engagement. You can use both together.

Overview: Integrations. Destination module: Campaigns.

Requirements

  • Mailchimp account with at least one already sent campaign and at least one audience / list.
  • Owner role of the Mokapen organization to start the OAuth connection (as in the UI).
  • Mokapen plan that includes the integration (suitable Premium plan — medal icon on the page if not available).
  • Marketing → Campaigns module to browse the list and KPIs (included in higher Premium plans where applicable).

Connect MailChimp Campaigns

  1. User menu → IntegrationsMailChimp campaigns.
  2. Click Sync / connect (Owner + suitable Premium plan) and complete Mailchimp OAuth login.
  3. When Account connected appears, select one or more lists / audiences to use (without a list you cannot access settings).
  4. Configure field mapping (email required), duplicates/conflicts, automatic sync and privacy.
  5. Authorize sync and click Save or Sync.

Only sent campaigns are synced. In a typical Mokapen sync, campaigns sent in the last 30 days are imported (then incremental updates after the last sync); subscriber activity on recent campaigns is also realigned by periodic jobs when automatic sync is active.

What is synced

After connection Mokapen imports:

  • Sent campaigns — title, status, dates, Mailchimp source, linked to the lists you connected. They appear in Marketing → Campaigns.
  • Campaign KPIs — typically sent, opens, clicks.
  • Subscriber actions — recipient opens and clicks on synced campaigns.
  • Campaign contacts / leads — email match (or create/update according to mapping and duplicate rules), with engagement linked to the record and campaign.

As with MailerLite Campaigns, relevant activity is from those who opened or clicked. Sync direction is to Mokapen only.

Webhooks and cron can update campaigns and activity when automatic sync is active (e.g. campaign sent event on the list, hourly realignment of activity on recent campaigns).

Lists / audiences

Unlike MailerLite Campaigns (account-wide), here you explicitly choose the Mailchimp audiences to connect. You can connect multiple lists, each with its own field mapping. Without at least one list you cannot configure sync. Use «Connect a list…» on the page to add more.

Settings to configure

Sync direction

To Mokapen only (one way). You do not export campaigns from Mokapen to Mailchimp.

Field mapping

For each connected list, in Connect fields match Mailchimp merge fields to Mokapen contact fields. Email is required. You can skip unused columns. Without correct mapping, opens and clicks do not attach well to CRM records.

Duplicates and conflicts

  • Avoid duplicates — email comparison: update the existing contact instead of creating a new one.
  • Manage conflicts — choose whether Mailchimp or Mokapen takes precedence when mapped fields differ.

Automatic sync and privacy

  • Automatic sync — scheduled updates and webhooks on campaigns; activity on recent campaigns realigned periodically.
  • Manual sync — on-demand run.
  • Privacy — visibility of imported data for org members.

Only whoever connected the account (or has shared sync) can change settings and disconnect.

Where you see the data

  • Marketing → Campaigns — Mailchimp email campaigns with KPIs and leads, filterable by source together with Ads and other newsletters.
  • Reports → Campaigns — comparisons by channel and period.
  • Contact record → timeline / updates — entries «has opened / has clicked» + campaign name + how many times.
  • Contact record → Connections → Campaigns — campaign linked to the contact.

What you see on the contact (opens and clicks)

Beyond totals in Campaigns, the integration brings engagement to the individual person:

  • Open the contact in the Directory.
  • In the timeline read whether they opened or clicked a Mailchimp campaign (campaign name and count).
  • The campaign stays in the contact's Connections, useful for sales follow-up.

Example: «Spring promo» campaign sent from the Customers list → in Campaigns you see total opens/clicks → on contact «Luca Bianchi» the timeline shows he clicked the offer link: the salesperson calls back without opening Mailchimp.

MailChimp vs MailChimp Campaigns

AspectMailChimp (contacts)MailChimp Campaigns
PurposeAudience / master data syncSent campaigns + KPIs + opens/clicks
DirectionTypically in / out / both (contacts page)To Mokapen only
ScopeList subscribersSelected lists + sent campaigns (typical 30-day window)
Contact timelineDoes not bring campaign opens/clicksYes: opened / clicked + count
Campaigns moduleNoYes (list + KPIs)

Typical flow: MailChimp to align the audience; MailChimp Campaigns for KPIs and who interacted after each send.

Automations

There is no dedicated «Mailchimp campaign click» trigger, but contacts created/updated by engagement can feed contact automations (Contact Created / Contact Created or Modified), if the plan includes them — for example create a task or assign an owner to those who clicked.

Limits to know

  • Sent campaigns only — drafts and scheduled campaigns not yet sent are excluded.
  • Typical 30-day window — sync takes recently sent campaigns (last 30 days / since last sync); very old campaigns may not be included on first connection.
  • Lists required — without a connected audience you cannot configure sync.
  • Inbound only — Mokapen does not modify campaigns on Mailchimp.
  • Owner to connect — OAuth connection is reserved to the Owner.
  • Email required — without mapped email, engagement does not attach to the CRM.
  • Campaigns module on a higher plan — medal icon on the page if not included in your plan.

Common issues

  • I don't see campaigns from months ago — typical sync covers those sent in the last 30 days (then incremental updates). Also verify you connected the right list.
  • Settings locked / «no list» — connect at least one Mailchimp audience.
  • I can't connect — Owner role and suitable Premium plan required.
  • No opens/clicks on the contact — check email mapping, correct list, that the recipient actually interacted, then rerun sync.
  • OAuth expired or login error — disconnect and reconnect the Mailchimp account.
  • I don't see campaigns in Marketing — verify plan/Campaigns module and that sync has run at least once.

Disconnecting

From Integrations → MailChimp campaigns click Disconnect. You can choose to keep the Campaigns already synced. Contacts and open/click history already in the CRM remain. Confirm by typing the required text in the modal.

Use cases

  • Sales priority on clickers — after a promo send, the team works only contacts with clicks in the timeline.
  • Email KPIs + Ads in one list — compare Mailchimp with Facebook/Google Ads in Marketing → Campaigns and in reports.
  • Prepare the call — open the contact and see which campaigns they opened or clicked before talking.
  • Multiple audiences, separate rules — connect B2B list and consumer newsletter list with different mappings.
  • Audience + campaigns — MailChimp (contacts) aligns the list; MailChimp Campaigns brings the results of each send.
