Slack

Connect the Slack workspace to receive alerts from Mokapen and to create tasks without leaving Slack. It does not sync channels, messages or files: it publishes the events you choose and opens a task when someone uses the command or the shortcut.

Requirements

• Permission to install an app in the Slack workspace. If the Slack administrator blocks external apps, authorization stops there: it must be approved in the Slack portal, not in Mokapen.
• Mokapen Medium plan.
• Mokapen users with the same email as the Slack account, if you want task assignment to return to the right person.

Connect and choose the alerts

User menu → Integrations → Slack and authorize the workspace. Then, on the page:

• Channel — where Mokapen publishes. Without a channel the test notification does not go out.
• Task assigned / new assignment — a message when a task is assigned.
• New comment on the task — a message when a comment arrives.
• Send test notification — verify the channel before leaving the events on. The test text says the integration works.

Slack users are matched to Mokapen users by email. If a person in Slack has a different email, correct the row in the user map: otherwise the command creates the task, but the assignment does not return to them.

Create a task from Slack

In the channel you write the slash command with the app slug and the title, in the form shown on the page (/slug The title). Alternatively you use the shortcut on the message. The Mokapen page shows the URL to paste in the Slack app as the Request URL for Slash Commands and Interactivity, and the Event Subscriptions URL (…/slack/events). Those two addresses go in the Slack app configuration: without them, the channel command does not reach Mokapen even if OAuth shows as connected.

The command creates a task. It does not update a deal, does not close a ticket, does not reply to the client. If the title is empty, there is nothing to create.

When the channel stays quiet

• The event is not on, or the channel is a different one from the one you are watching.
• The task was assigned to a user Slack does not have in the map: the event can still fire, but the person is not recognized in the message.
• The Slack app was revoked by the workspace administrators. In Mokapen disconnect and authorize again, after the app has been re-admitted.
