Google Ads

The Google Ads integration connects your Google advertising account to Mokapen to sync campaigns and leads: you automatically import campaign performance (impressions, clicks, spend) and turn the contacts generated by Google lead forms into contacts in your CRM, with no manual exports or files to upload.

It's an inbound integration: data is brought from Google into Mokapen (Mokapen doesn't modify your campaigns on Google).

General integrations overview: Integrations.

Requirements

  • An active Google Ads account you have access to (including via an administrator/MCC account).
  • A Mokapen plan that includes the Google Ads integration (Premium — medal icon on the page if not available on your plan).
  • The Marketing → Campaigns module and the faster sync frequencies (hourly/daily) are included in higher Premium plans: if they're not active on your plan, the medal icon appears on the page.

Connecting the Google Ads account

  1. User menu → IntegrationsGoogle Ads.
  2. Click Connect to Google Ads (requires an adequate Premium plan).
  3. Sign in with your Google account and authorize Mokapen to read your Google Ads data.
  4. When you return you'll see the Connected account status with the Google address used.
  5. Select the advertising account (or accounts) to sync: if you use an administrator account (MCC), choose the linked client accounts.

Only the user who made the connection can add accounts, change settings, sync, or disconnect the integration for the organization.

Syncing campaigns

Enable campaign syncing to import the entire advertising structure and its metrics:

  • Choose which campaigns to sync with the Active campaigns, Inactive campaigns filter or both (select at least one filter before syncing).
  • Mokapen imports campaigns, ad groups (shown as Adsets) and ads.
  • For each ad the daily metrics are synced: impressions, clicks and spend. The total spend is reported on the campaign.
  • On the first connection the historical data of existing campaigns is also synced; then syncing continues automatically at the chosen frequency.

Capturing leads from forms

If you use Google lead forms, you can import them as contacts in Mokapen:

  1. Enable lead syncing and select the forms you want to sync.
  2. Map the fields of each form to the contact fields of your CRM (Belongs to menu). The email field is mapped automatically and required: a lead without an email isn't imported.
  3. Choose the mode: New & Recent Leads (imports new leads plus those from the last 90 days) or New Leads.
  4. Save or sync: the leads become contacts, attributed to the campaign of origin.

After setup, new form submissions arrive in Mokapen in real time; manual syncing instead retrieves the history according to the chosen mode.

Frequency and options

  • Sync frequency — choose how often to update the data. The hourly and daily frequencies are included in higher Premium plans; with lower plans the periodic sync is weekly.
  • Avoid duplicates — Mokapen compares the leads' email with existing contacts to avoid creating duplicates (on by default).
  • Manage conflicts — decide which app prevails when the same data differs: either Mokapen or Google Ads can win.
  • Privacy — set the visibility of imported data: public (all members) or private (only selected members).

Where you see the data

  • Marketing → Campaigns — the list of campaigns, Adsets and Ads imported from Google Ads, with source, status, number of leads and metrics (spend, impressions, clicks). The module is included in higher Premium plans.
  • Reports → Campaigns — charts on campaigns by source, leads by source and leads by campaign, with trends for spend, impressions and clicks.
  • Contacts — imported leads appear as contacts, with the source linked to the campaign that generated them.

Automations

There's no specific trigger for campaigns, but the contacts created from leads of Google Ads can start contact-based automations, for example Contact Created or Contact Created or Modified (running automations requires an adequate Premium plan). This way you can, for example, automatically send a welcome email or assign the new lead to a salesperson.

Limits to know

  • Inbound sync — data goes from Google to Mokapen; campaigns on Google aren't modified.
  • A single manager — only the user who connected the account can manage the integration's settings, accounts and syncing.
  • Email required for leads — leads without an email address are ignored.
  • Campaign filter required — to sync campaigns you must select at least the Active or Inactive status.
  • Campaigns module on a higher plan — the integration connects with an adequate Premium plan; the view in Marketing → Campaigns is included in higher Premium plans.
  • Connection to renew — the Google authorization can expire: in that case the connection must be made again.

Common issues

  • Connection expired — if you see "Oops! It seems the connection you made has expired. Please disconnect and reconnect or contact us.", disconnect and reconnect the account.
  • Campaign sync won't start — check that you've selected at least one campaign filter (Active or Inactive).
  • A lead didn't arrive — check that the form is selected and that the lead has an email; leads without an email aren't imported.
  • I don't see the campaigns — make sure your plan includes the Marketing → Campaigns module and that syncing has been started.
  • Duplicate contacts — keep the Avoid duplicates option on and check the conflict management rules.

Disconnecting

From the Integrations → Google Ads page click Disconnect: a confirmation window opens with the Keep section.

  • You can choose to keep the Campaigns already synced: if you leave the option on, campaigns, adsets and ads stay visible in Mokapen; otherwise they're removed along with their metrics.
  • You can disconnect a single advertising account or the entire integration.
  • The contacts created from leads are not deleted when disconnecting.

To confirm, type DISCONNECT in the required field.

Use cases

  • Real-time leads in the CRM — a user fills in the lead form of a Google campaign: the contact arrives in Mokapen right away, ready to be followed up by sales.
  • Performance monitoring — track campaign impressions, clicks and spend directly in Marketing → Campaigns, without opening the Google Ads console.
  • Reports by source — in Reports → Campaigns you compare how many leads come from Google Ads versus other sources, to understand where to invest.
  • Automatic follow-up — link an automation to the Contact Created trigger to immediately send a welcome email to new leads from Google Ads.
  • Sales attribution — each lead keeps the campaign source, so you know which ad generated the deal.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What is synced from Google Ads?

A: Campaigns with their ad groups and ads, the daily metrics (impressions, clicks, spend) and the leads from Google forms, which become contacts in the CRM.

Q: Does Mokapen modify my campaigns on Google?

A: No. The integration is read-only: it brings data from Google to Mokapen, without touching the campaigns.

Q: What plan do I need?

A: An adequate Premium plan to connect the account. The Marketing → Campaigns module and the faster sync frequencies (hourly/daily) are included in higher Premium plans. If a feature isn't available on your plan, the medal icon appears on the page.

Q: Do leads arrive immediately?

A: Yes. After setup, new form submissions arrive in real time; manual syncing retrieves the history (new and recent from the last 90 days, or new only).

Q: Can I connect more than one advertising account?

A: Yes, including accounts linked to an administrator account (MCC). You can select multiple accounts to sync and disconnect them individually.

Q: What happens to the data if I disconnect?

A: You can choose whether to keep the synced campaigns. The contacts created from leads stay in Mokapen anyway.

Q: Why are some leads not imported?

A: Because they don't have an email address (required) or because the form wasn't selected in the lead sync configuration.

Q: Can I trigger automations on Google Ads leads?

A: Yes, via the contact triggers (Contact Created / Contact Created or Modified). Running automations requires an adequate Premium plan.
