Connections are the connective tissue of the Mokapen CRM: they link tasks, projects, contacts, companies, deals, tickets, quotes, orders, appointments, and other entities in a navigable network. Unlike a simple text field, each connection creates a bidirectional link: open a contact record and see everything linked to it, and vice versa. Without connections the CRM remains a list of isolated records; with connections it becomes a true XRM where every activity, sale, or support request has context, history, and relationships.
A connection does not duplicate data: it records an association between two records already present (or just created) in your organization. You can link multiple entities of the same type (e.g. three contacts to a deal) and different types on the same record (e.g. a ticket linked to a company, contact, and follow-up task).
Connections live in the system's relational table and are visible:
Removing a connection does not delete the entities involved: you only remove the link.
Use connections whenever an entity has operational references to other CRM records:
Practical rule: if in a meeting you would say «this task is about client X and deal Y», those relationships belong in connections — so anyone opening the record understands the context without searching chat or email.
In the modal record (opened from Kanban, list, or link): dedicated Connections tab with a counter on the top tabs. Each section (Contacts, Companies, Tasks, Deals, Tickets…) shows active links for that type.
On the full entity page (e.g. full-screen task): the Connections card appears in the left column, below the Data card — same fields, same logic as the Connections tab.
In both cases, top right in the action bar you find the green + button for Create and connect (see below).
The same operation is possible directly on the Data tab, where connection fields (Contacts, Companies, Linked tasks…) are editable inline like other record fields.
The green + button at the top (Create and connect) opens a quick menu to create a new entity already linked to the one you are viewing: task, project, appointment, deal, ticket, contact, quote, order, and other entities enabled by your plan.
Use it when you are working on a contact and need to open a ticket, or on a deal when a follow-up task is needed: you avoid creating an «orphan» record and then remembering to link it manually.
On the Data tab you find relational fields grouped by type (Contacts, Companies, Linked tasks, Deals…). They are the same information as the Connections tab, presented in the context of other profile data.
With custom fields (Medium plan), some connections can be made required or hidden via visibility rules: useful to enforce, for example, that every ticket has at least one linked contact.
On the Data tab you can also use Clone from the Options menu (three dots): in the clone window, check or uncheck The task/project/contact… connections to copy the entity while keeping or dropping all existing links. If you clone to another organization, the connections option is disabled (linked records belong to the source org).
In list advanced filters (Small plan) for tasks, projects, contacts, tickets, deals, etc. you find connected_* fields — e.g. «Linked contact», «Linked company», «Linked deal».
Operational examples: all tasks linked to contact «Smith»; all tickets without a linked company (to clean up); all deals linked to a specific target company.
Options → Clone menu (or bulk action on the list): besides the title, choose what to include in the copy. The connections checkbox (e.g. «The task's connections») is active by default within the same organization.
Useful for: duplicating a project template with linked clients and tasks; creating a deal variant while keeping contacts and companies; copying a sample ticket with the same relationships. Uncheck connections if you want a «clean» copy to relink manually.
Each connection is a clickable link that opens the linked record. The counter on the Connections tab indicates how many active links the entity has.
Typical path: open a deal → Connections tab → click the contact → contact's Connections tab → see linked deals, tickets, and tasks. This is natural CRM navigation without leaving context.
Connections tab or field on the Data tab → edit icon → deselect the entity in the multi-select → save. In some views a delete icon next to the single row is also available. The unlinked entity remains in the system.
Tasks also have the Project field on the Data tab: it indicates the parent project (operational hierarchy). Connections remain complementary: you can link a task to contacts, deals, or other tasks beyond the main project. Use the project to organize work; use connections for commercial and relational context. Learn more in the Tasks guide → Project.
Connections, combined with Labels, Checklist, and Time, form the foundation for managing sales, delivery, and support in the same workspace.
